A MESSAGE FROM THE COMOX RECREATION MANAGER

With all the beautiful summer weather we are having it is hard to believe that fall is just around the corner. Although we are enjoying this summer we are very excited about the coming fall.

Kicking things off this fall will be the Seniors Games September 15th to 19th hosted by the Comox Valley and Campbell River. Over 3,300 seniors will be competing in a variety of games and Comox will be home to dragon boat racing and table tennis. Bridge, horseshoes, hockey, lawn bowling, golf, curling, square dancing, cribbage, swimming, whist, snooker, track and field, soccer and floor curling will also be held in the Comox Valley. Come on out – volunteer – enjoy the festivities! Contact the Games office at 250.871.0872 for information.

Fall will also see the new addition at the Community Centre happening with completion early in the New Year. Footings are being poured as I write this; Village Park is being prepared for the geothermal heating/cooling system and the building should be framed by mid October. Now that the demolition and prep work has finished it is very exciting to see the new addition take shape. The Community Centre will continue to be open throughout the construction period and we look forward to providing you with increased service once completed.

We are also excited about the fall program activities available to you. Please look through this edition of Spotlight and check out the many opportunities for this fall.

Being active is an important part of being healthy for all ages!

– Jim Stevenson
